Fitzwilliam Darcy enters the novel as wealthy, reserved, and socially severe. His first proposal fails because of pride and insult; his later actions reveal loyalty, responsibility, and the capacity to change.
Where this comes from: Austen clearly describes Darcy as tall, handsome, and noble in bearing, but does not specify his hair color, eye color, or detailed facial structure.
